PV: Thursday 28th October. 7pm till late. Old Shoreditch Station.
Illustrator Matthieu Bessudo aka mcbess was born and raised in Cannes, after graduating from the renowned multimedia school Supinfocom in Arles, where he studied 3D animation, he relocated to London.
His character-based style is a mix of influences; he sights the American animation studio, Fleischer, as being a major one. Mcbess modernises the monochromatic cartoons by using contemporary shapes, symbols and types.
The main characters are often representations of him in a surreal world filled with his other passions, such as food and music. They take the form of 2d illustration and animations.
Mcbess has exhibited his work in galleries and publications globally and is a director at the Oscar award winning visual effects company, The Mill. He is the guitarist in the band “The Dead Pirates” and has the word ‘MEAT’ tattooed across his knuckles.
La Viande is a show about meat, red meat, ribs, rib eye, sirloin, fillet, entrecote, T-bones, New York strip, tournedos, porterhouse. A subject that is close to both his heart and hand.
